#26 - Branch section of NC State University Memorial Oak (willow oak) planted in 1890 by 1st class of students at NC State College of Agriculture and Mechanical Arts.
Landscaping insults to tree’s and root decay resulted in the removal of the tree in 1990. Logs of sound trunk were milled, dried, and made into conference tables for the alumni building and College of Natural Resources.
