Wood Samples

These wood samples are from Dr. Shigo’s courses and academies held through the years. Some of the samples were personally ‘wounded’ by Dr. Shigo in one year and collected another year to show how trees respond and react to the wounding. This was near Appalachian State University’s Camp Broadstone Center near Boone, NC where Dr. Shigo held courses for many years. There are a few samples in the collection that were taken from historic trees that were on campus at NC State by Dr. McGraw.
